NORTHWOOD BEARDED WONDER Seifert 2019 - Diploid, Sev, 32", 4.75", Mre, 2 br/15 bc (Lavender Blue Baby x Fancy Face)
Light yellow with mahogany eye ring that extends to sepals and barbed appendages around the chartreuse throat.
From the first blooms, this one showed the barbed appendages. We had planted 200 seeds of this cross, after I gave 100 to 2 friends. Doug, who is the seed and seedling planter, asked why we needed SO many of this cross!
I didn't know but thought we needed to plant all these. This was the only one that had this type of petal. It is pollen fertile, and I'm not sure about pod fertility. Michael's Sword was the only one I wanted to use with it, but MS has no pollen.
NORTHWOOD BLUTOPIA Seifert 2019 - Diploid, 44", 7", ML, Dor, 6 br/ 40 bc (North Wind Dancer x Stargate Portal)
Light purple with lavender blue eyezone, deep green throat and cream white extending out onto the sepals.
Pretty from the first eye catching blooms, it went immediately in an observation bed! The performance has been stellar with high fertility both ways.
One of my best performers ever.
NORTHWOOD FADED BLUE GENES - Seifert 2019, Tetraploid, 29", 5", MLre, Dor, 4 BR/25 BC, (Truly Angelic x Guided by Voices)
Rose violet with lavender blue eyezone, cream ruffled edge and and pale lavender sepals. This is a bitone - I missed that in the description.
We had several seedlings blooming from this cross with good plant habit but this was the most exciting. The plant habit is great and it's extremely fertile both ways.
THIS IS A GREAT PARENT PLANT!
NORTHWOOD FUDGESICLE - Seifert 2019 Diploid, 34", 4.5", EM, Sev, 3 BR/22 BC (Old Termite x Patchy Fog)
Soft chocolate brown with light pink midribs, small green throat outlined in cranberry.
Who doesn't love chocolate? This soft chocolate bloom caught my eye out of many from the same cross. The performance has been good and I just spent time enjoying it this summer. I don't know about seedling results because there was nothing else like it here to cross with it. It does produce pollen and made bee pods.
NORTHWOOD STAR SAPPHIRE - Seifert 2019, Diploid, 28", 3", EMre, Sev, 4 BR/23 BC (sdlg x In the Navy)
Cream with bright lavender blue bursting eyezone outlined in raspberry, and small deep green throat.
Larger than a technical mini,Northwood Star Sapphire has good plant habit and is very fertile both ways. It gives much better performance than some of the other smaller blue eyed cultivars which often struggle here. That made me realize that it, being northern hardy, made it deserve registration.
NORTHWOOD TIE DYE ARTIST - Seifert 2019 Diploid, 32", 5", EM, Dor, 3 BR/12 BC, (Lavender Kaleidoscope x Believing in Design)
Rosy violet with lavender blue eyezone, green throat radiating veined bronze, and cream pink edge with cream sepals streaked with purple.
This one is hard to describe. Some years it has been darker but always interesting and eye catching. Names failed me until I thought of how the carefully controlled design reminded me of tie-dye which I love! (I'm still a hippie at heart.) Fertile both ways, and I expect some interesting kids from this.
This is a bitone - I missed that in the description.
